The majority of these bagatelles were written over a period of two weeks in early January 2024. The final three (17, 18, and 19) were written sporadically between 2017 and 2020, and have been included due to their similarity in duration and character to the other pieces. The collection began as a personal project to expand my approach to piano composition and experiment with a wide variety of contrasting musical ideas. They may be performed in any order and do not need to be performed as a complete set. The collection is dedicated to my friend, Adelaide-based pianist James Huon George.

The premiere of Nineteen Bagatelles was given by Josh van Konkelenberg at North Adelaide Baptist Church Hall on 23 November 2025 in a concert presented by Recitals Australia and supported by the South Australian Government through CreateSA.
